Variable Speed Limit Signs Appear on Texas Highways

Texas has introduced new digital signs that automatically lower highway speed limits during bad weather, heavy traffic, or road construction. Under these new rules, TxDOT can instantly drop speeds by 10 mph to prevent dangerous pileups and improve road safety. These electronic signs are legally enforceable, so if you don’t slow down when the sign changes, you could end up with a speeding ticket and a heavy fine.
